CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Realization

Shane Peters

“Yes,” she answered after a moment and I let her answer sink in. She said she liked me back and I couldn’t have been any happier to hear that. The worry of her not feeling the same way gave me a nervous feeling. I’ve never been so nervous around someone before. She agreed to let me take her on a date and I felt very relieved. I smiled at the thought, because that meant we had mutual feelings. “You’re a really kind guy Shane,” she said softly. “I’ve… never felt like this before.” If there were enough lights, I would have been able to tell she was blushing.

“You do realize you’re the first girl to say that to me after I’ve asked to go on a date?” I paused for a moment to take a good at her. “I’m really happy we have mutual feelings.” She smiled and I reached for her hand and held it in mine. “Can I show you something?” I said.

She shrugged. “Does it involve leaving the balcony, because I enjoy standing here with you. It’s beautiful out here,” she said. Not as beautiful as her. I looked towards her more and she had a look of wonder. I smiled towards her, because I had an idea.

“Yes, but it does involve going back to my room. We can go to the balcony there, if you’d like,” I said. She smiled and nodded. Quietly, we turned towards the door and went in. I closed the door for her and we carefully went around the guys who were asleep on the floor.

As we passed the table, Claire grabbed her phone and room key. We both decided we wouldn’t be needing our shoes and made our way out the door. Once I closed the door to the suite, I turned to see her already looking up at me. I notice her biting the inside of her lip. She deserved happiness and I’m honored to be giving it to her.

“I sort of see this as a date,” she said softly.

“Do you want this to be our first date?” I asked her. Her cheeks turned rosy pink. She looked down at her socks.

“I don’t mind calling this our first date at all.” She looked towards me with a smile and I continued to hold her hand. She nodded. She did not mind me holding her hand at all.

“Welcome to our first date Claire Johnson.” I smiled to her and leaned over to kiss her cheek. It was a bold move for me to do, but I didn’t mind. I’m pretty sure I would do a lot of things for this girl. She meant a lot to me already. I let our arms swing as we began making our way towards my suite. We continued swinging our arms all the way to the suite and I took out my key to unlock the door.

“Shall I make something for us to snack on while we wait?” she offered.

“No, it’s alright. You haven’t had dinner, did you?” I asked.
